Ford Expedition Overview

Experience Ford Expedition capability. Enjoy it in style.

At a glance, Ford Expedition styling conveys the qualities expected in a full-size SUV. Strength. Durability. Safety. It’s a design that also speaks volumes about what you’ll discover inside: seating for up to eight occupants, plus loads of cargo volume in regular- and extended-length models. The Ford Expedition is designed to take its place on the road in a most compelling way.

Ford Expedition Platinum

The Ford Expedition Platinum model sets the highest standard of Expedition style, comfort and luxury. In the Expedition Platinum you’ll enjoy front leather-trimmed heated and cooled bucket seats, PowerFold 3rd-row seat, power-deployable running boards, power moonroof, 12-speaker Audio System from Sony, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Voice-Activated Navigation System, SYNC 3 and more.

Seating Capacity

Ford Expedition provides standard seating for up to eight. There’s a 7-passenger configuration available with individual 2nd-row bucket seats. When more cargo space is needed, the 3rd-row bench seat can be folded down for a flat load floor. The 2nd-row split bench seats also fold flat to the floor for maximum cargo space.

Exterior Styling

Its dynamic front end creates a look that establishes the 2017 Ford Expedition as the flagship of Ford SUVs. But styling isn’t all there is. Expedition comes standard with LED fog lights, running boards, and luggage rack with side rails and adjustable crossbars. Add available enhancements like halogen projector-beam headlights; power-deployable running boards; side mirrors with heat, signal, memory and security approach features; plus power moonroof.

Available 22-Inch Polished Aluminum Wheels

Ride comfort and control – and style as well – truly begin at ground level with these 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, available on 2017 Ford Expedition Platinum models equipped with the optional Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) System. CCD continuously monitors and adjusts the suspension to road conditions. Choose one of three performance modes – comfort, normal or sport.

Extended-Length Model

When transporting cargo takes priority, the full-size SUV to turn to is the extended-length Ford Expedition MAX with its 3,703 litres (130.8 cu. ft.). You’ll find the regular-length Expedition is pretty capable as well with its 3,066 litres (108.3 cu. ft.) of maximum space behind the front seats (rear seat backs folded).

3.5L EcoBoost Engine

EcoBoost technology is at the heart of the high standard of performance in the Ford Expedition. The 3.5L EcoBoost is rated at an impressive 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of standard engine torque. Two technologies combine to make this happen. Advanced direct injection helps maximize power from every drop of fuel. Twin air-to-air intercooled turbochargers provide a surge of instantaneous on-demand power.

9,200 lbs. (4,173 kg) Maximum Towing

If you need to tow a large boat or camper-trailer, the standard 3.5L EcoBoost® engine delivers 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, giving the 2017 Ford Expedition a maximum 9,200-lb. (4,173 kg) towing capacity when equipped with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package.

Trailer Sway Control

Expedition features standard trailer sway control working in conjunction with AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control). When trailer sway is detected, the system takes measures, such as applying precise vehicle braking or reduced engine torque, to help bring both vehicle and trailer under control.

Available Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)
Integrated with the anti-lock brakes and trailer sway control19, the available Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)* synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking, even when towing a large boat or camper-trailer. TBC controls are easy to use and well positioned just to the right of the steering wheel.

Traction and Stability Control Systems

Ford Expedition puts technology to work to help keep you in control no matter what the conditions. Standard traction control reduces engine power or applies the brakes at the slipping wheel to limit wheelspin. The standard Control Trac 4-Wheel-Drive System helps provide more sure-footed traction, on or off the road.
Expedition also has standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC). Two gyroscopic sensors help you maintain control when wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion is detected, as well as in adverse road conditions. And there’s Trailer Sway Control, electronically connected to AdvanceTrac with RSC, to help maintain trailer control.

Available Mechanical Rear Load-Leveling Suspension

The available Rear Mechanical Load-Leveling Suspension levels the chassis when you’re carrying a heavy load, enhancing ride quality, handling and stability. 2017 Ford Expedition is engineered with an independent multilink rear suspension (IRS) that enables each wheel to negotiate bumps and jolts on its own terms.

Truck Apps

Truck Apps provides a robust series of tools to help enhance towing and off-roading. Accessed with controls on the steering wheel, the information is displayed in the gauge cluster. Input, track and save information about specific trailers and manage how you use them. A trailer name, its trailer brake control settings and mileage can all be stored. The off-road tools include displays of lateral, vertical and turning radius information and the 4x4 system and traction control status.

Available SYNC or SYNC 3

Upgrade to available SYNC 3. Enjoy all of the standard SYNC features plus new hardware, new software, and a new easy-to-use design. SYNC 3 offers high-speed performance, enhanced voice recognition, a capacitive touch screen with swipe capability, available navigation with easy destination entry and pinch-to-zoom functionality, Siri seamless integration, and automatic updates over Wi-Fi.

Available Keyless Entry with Push-Button Start

The available Keyless Entry with Push-Button Start makes it easier than ever to unlock your Ford Expedition and start the engine. With the key fob in your pocket or handbag, you need only touch the outside driver’s door SecuriCode keypad to unlock the door. To start the engine, press the brake pedal and push the start-stop button.
