From its wide stance and sporty design cues, the 2017 Taurus makes a powerful statement. The bold grille complements the distinctive front end. Adding to that look are signature LED lights and sculpted lines that add a dynamic vibe, from the curb to the highway.
An array of wheel designs complement the sporty look of the 2017 Ford Taurus. New for 2017, 20-inch machined finish low-gloss ebony 15-spoke wheels are available on the Taurus SEL and SHO. 20-inch polished aluminum wheels are standard on the Taurus Limited and 20-inch machined and premium painted wheels come standard on the Taurus SHO (shown).
The choice is yours in the high-performance Ford Taurus SHO: leather-trimmed seats in Charcoal Black (shown) or with Mayan Grey Miko™ inserts, both with an embroidered SHO logo on the front seats. An extended thigh-support cushion and the bolster contour help provide added comfort. The soy-based seat cushions, seat backs and the four-way adjustable (up/down/tilt) headrests are supportive and comfortable as well as environmentally friendly.
Exclusive to the 2017 Ford Taurus SHO are high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights that give the Taurus an eye-catching look. In the automatic position, when you turn on your windshield wipers, the headlights are activated. Lights automatically come on when ambient light is low enough. HID headlights offer intense power for superior visibility. They produce whiter, brighter stronger light than conventional headlights and are also longer lasting.
Full LED taillights are not only sharp in appearance, they also illuminate faster than conventional incandescent bulbs. They also consume less energy and are standard on all Taurus models.
The 2017 Ford Taurus offers a distinctive rear spoiler on the high-performance SHO model as well as on the Limited model. While definitely sporty-looking, its aerodynamic properties help contribute to efficiency and stability. Also available on SEL.
A chrome-tipped dual exhaust system adds a sporty flair to the sculpted rear lines of the 2017 Ford Taurus SE, SEL and Limited models. The Taurus SHO is engineered with a dual exhaust system – each of the engine’s two exhaust manifolds has its own exhaust pipe, reducing back pressure and enhancing horsepower.
The 2017 Ford Taurus SHO is equipped with a standard 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine. It combines two different technologies – turbocharging and direct injection. It generates 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide 1,500-5,000 rpm range.
The standard 3.5L Ti-VCT engine delivers a robust 288 horsepower11. It has a Government of Canada-estimated rating of 13.1 L/100 km (22 mpg) city, 8.7 L/100 km (32 mpg) hwy, and 11.1 L/100 km (26 mpg) combined2 FWD. Twin independent variable camshaft timing controls when the valves open and close to enhance overall performance, while also enabling variable valve overlap for improved fuel economy.
The available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine has a Government of Canada-estimated rating of 11.8 L/100 km (24 mpg) city, 8.1 L/100 km (35 mpg) hwy, and 10.1 L/100 km (29 mpg) combined2 FWD. It combines direct injection and turbocharging with twin independent variable-camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). The result is 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, performance you would expect from a larger engine11. Available on SE and SEL models.
Intelligent AWD sensors balance torque between the front and rear wheels to enhance handling and maximize traction, typically before wheelslip can even occur. Standard on the 2017 Ford SHO and Limited and available on SEL models.
The 2017 Ford Taurus SHO features a suspension with unique sport-tuned shock absorbers, springs, stabilizer bars and strut mount bushings. These components are engineered to deliver impressive road holding, cornering agility and steering responsiveness. The rear suspension is a multilink design that increases suspension travel for enhanced dynamic control and ride quality
The 2017 Ford Taurus SE, SEL and Limited models feature the six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with shifter button activation. This feature lets you override automatic operation and enjoy the sporty performance feel of a manual with total control over gear selection. The Taurus SHO has race-inspired, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for changing gears easily and quickly.
Torque Vectoring Control and Curve Control, standard on all Taurus models, are two components of AdvanceTrac® with electronic stability control (ESC). Torque Vectoring Control uses the braking system to imitate the effect of a torque-vectoring differential. In particular, when accelerating through corners, it applies braking to the front inside wheel, so more of the engine torque goes to the outside wheel, which has more grip. Curve Control will slow your vehicle when it senses that you’re going too fast into a particular curve. Employing throttle reduction and four-wheel braking intervention, it’s always active in helping you maintain control.
EPAS is powered by an electric motor instead of a hydraulic pump that draws power from the engine. What’s more, since it is speed-sensitive, EPAS can help correct for road irregularities and improve steering feel. EPAS also features pull-drift compensation, technology that helps you offset vehicle pulling or drifting that can occur in crosswinds or on uneven roads.

Important safety features stay activated, such as the Belt-Minder™ warning chime, until the seat belts8 are buckled. The audio system sound volume also remains muted. MyKey® can be set to place limits on maximum speed and audio volume. Low-fuel warnings are displayed in the message centre, followed by a chime when fuel level reaches an eighth of a tank.
The available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert uses radar in the rear quarter panels to detect a vehicle entering your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the sideview mirror.
Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you when you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or your driveway. If it detects a vehicle approaching from up to 13.7 metres (15 yards) away, it sends an audible warning, a visual display in either sideview mirror, and a signal in the message centre. BLIS® technology is standard on 2017 Ford Taurus Limited and SHO models.
The available navigation includes Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, which is combined with 3-D mapping and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions.
Starting the Ford Taurus is a breeze, thanks to available Intelligent Access with push-button start. With the key fob in your pocket or handbag, simply open the driver’s door — no key is needed. Once inside, press the brake pedal and then the start button, shift into gear and go. Intelligent Access with push-button start is standard on 2017 Ford Taurus Limited, SHO, and SEL models.
The available Lane-Keeping System includes both the lane-keeping alert and the lane-keeping aid. The system can operate during the day or night. Lane-keeping alert warns you through a series of steering wheel vibrations, which mimic driving over a rumble strip, should the system detect an unintentional lane departure.
Lane-keeping aid actively applies steering torque, which alerts you to direct your vehicle back into the target lane should the system detect an unintended lane departure. The system is available on 2017 Ford Taurus Limited and SHO models.
